EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION: CHILDREN'S DEVELOPMENT THROUGH PLAYFUL PRACTICE

Abstract

This study examined which predict or measures best explain first grade retention through public school-based early childhood program and community-based early childhood program in order to understand the historical and often neglected problem in the state’s education system. The purpose of this study was to explore the knowledge, attitudes and practices on early childhood care and education from the perspective of childfriendly learning in order to promote playful environment. A cross-sectional descriptive study was designed to assess the knowledge, attitude and existing practices on early childhood development and education. It was felt that the teachers have knowledge about childfriendly environment and playfull practice that is necessary to nurture children from the early age. The problem statement of this study was devised as to identify the status, impacts, problems and corrective measures about the early childhood development and education. Global evidence and research findings have shown that children are at risk, and vulnerable environment in school, physical facilities for playful environment are difficult to deliver. By reviewing different literatures, thesis, theories, national and international journals related to early childhood development and education, the researcher made the study more substantive and authentic by incorporating relevant ideas that the researcher gathered through literature review. The researcher followed quantitative as well as qualitative research design with focus on its descriptive cross sectional and phenomenological premise which encompasses ontological, epistemological and methodological assumptions.
